HeroMarine wins bronze medal

The mousesports StarCraft II player Gabriel "HeroMarine" Segat has won the bronze medal at the 2016 WCS Summer Circuit Championship in Montreal, Canada. The young Terran player, who just recently extended his contract with mousesports was able to knock out WCS Spring Champion Tobias "ShoWTimE" Sieber, as well as Alexis "MarineLorD" Eusebio and Juan Carlos "MajOr" Tena Lopez.

The 2016 WCS Summer Circuit Championship in Montreal, Canada, kicked off with a 32 player, single-elimination bracket. From August 12-14, the best players from all over the world gathered to determine the WCS Summer Champion, who will receive an invite for the 2016 WCS Global Finals at Blizzcon later this year.


In his first match, HeroMarine was able to pull off a narrow 3-2 victory over the WCS Spring Champion ShoWTimE, in a "very important match" as he stated on Twitter afterwards. HeroMarine went on to defeat MarineLorD (FRA) and MajOr (MEX) in the process to advance to his first semifinal in a premier tournament in his career.

In the semifinals, he faced the Korean Zerg player and later champion Bang "TRUE" Tae Soo, who advanced to the semis with a flawless 9-0 map record. The went back and forth from the very beginning, with TRUE and HeroMarine trading armies and maps each for a 1-1 score after two games, before the Korean Zerg went on to win the next two, to close off the series with 3-1 in his favor.


Besides his defeat, HeroMarine celebrated the best achievement of his career, by winning the bronze medal at the 2016 WCS Summer Circuit Championship, netting a total of $10,000 USD prize money. While HeroMarine focused on graduating from school, he started his professional gaming year to come with a bang.
