My 2 wierd taxirides in Beijing
Let's start with the first one. Me and my girlfriend had been eating dinner. She went to see her friend and I was going home to practise. The first taxi we saw she took, then some minutes later I got another one, called her, since I can't say my new address yet. She told the driver where to go and we took off. After some minutes I recognized where the taxi was supposed to turn right, he didn't seem to turn right though, so I pointed to him(all other times the taxi turned right here), but he just shaked his head and kept driving straight. He took a very long way I've never seen before. Then he suddenly stopped and acted like we arrived. I was like I didn't know why he stopped. Then he saw another taxi, and asked something, after that we drove back the same way we came from. I pointed to him to stop the taximeter(I don't know if this is the word, but the thing which shows how much money I should pay). But he didn't. Some minutes later we arrived at my home. It was 21 yuan now, when I went to the resturant to eat it was 12, so I knew he ripped me off. (It's not really about the 9 yuan, it's more I don't like false people who acts like this.) I pointed at the thing where the price is shown, and said I wont pay that much. He said something back, I guess he said how much? I said "SHI". He kinda said "no way". So I took up my telephone, and started to call the taxicompany. But before I had written the number into my telephone the taxidriver started to hit with his hand against my telephone. I understood he didn't want me to call the company. We had some argue again, I spoke english, he chinese, perfect! I tried to call again, this time he got very angry, locked the doors at the taxi, and drove away with me inside. At this time I was really scared. If it was yesterday I wouldn't care too much, but this day I really didn't want to die! So I showed him all my money and said "please please dui bu qi". He stopped the car, and pointed on the 21 yuan he wanted me to pay which now had turn into 22. I gave him 20 and searched for 2 more, I found one and wanted to give it to him. He didn't accept it so I started to get out of the taxi, but before I had time to open the door, he gave me 10 yuan back. I WON! GG!
Yesterday I was going to meet up with ToD and other friends. I went into the taxi(this time in the backseat, never I go in the front again after the first story. Ok. I did it one time when there was a girl driver ^^;;), told the driver the address and went away. Everything went fine, 19 yuan. I gave the driver one yuan tip, opens the door and *BOOM*. Another taxi hit my door. I got outside and looked at the damage.
The other taxis backmirror was pretty much broken, and some scratches in the color. The taxi I was in, got it's door unable to close. I didn't know what to do, I was pretty sure it was not my fault, taxis are supposed to stop where this can't happen right? After a while I got pretty angry, since they didn't let me go away. Talked in english, hoped they would just let me go. Luckily 2 guys saw it, they came to me and asked if there was a problem. I explained to them what happend, and they agreed it was not my fault. Then they talked some to the drivers, first they wanted me to pay 100 yuan, but later only 50. This had already taken 20 minutes, so I thought it was ok. If I was alone I would probably have to pay way more. I also think it costed way more than 50 RMB to repair the damages. I never had any big problems with taxis before, but this happend in only a few days. Time to take subway ^_^;;
