To Fly or not to Fly
|

It is Wednesday, 20th February 2008, two nights to go to the NGL ONE Finals in Berlin. ToD, SaSe and Fly100% are waiting for their flight to Germany at a chinese airport. The flight was booked with a stopover in the United Kingdom, this is where the problems began.
It's not the first time that the most feared word in eSport upsets plans: VISA. Five days ago Fly had an appointment at the responsible department. By then we thought everything would work out as planned, the visa should be handed over at 19th February, flights were booked, bags packed.
Tuesday: The delivery of the visa was being delayed to the next day. Bookings had to be altered, new flight schedule: the already mentioned flight with stopover in the UK. Apparently no problem, due to airports being grey areas regarding visa.
Far wrong. During the passport check a transit visa for the UK was being demanded. Although Fly had no intention to leave the airport in the UK, a visa is needed because the players have to change the terminal and will stay in England for two hours. Fly was being refused to enter the flight.
While ToD and SaSe were already on the plane, Fly, with support from Germany, tried to book another flight. Even though we were promised to receive a reservation, the airline later told us that the flight was already closed.
Fly is now on his way back to Guangzhou and will probably catch up on some sleep.![]()
